Eryl McNally appointed as Foundation Chairman

Eryl McNally, Chairman of the National Energy FoundationThe Trustees of the National Energy Foundation have appointed Mrs Eryl McNally as their new Chairman. Mrs McNally was formerly an MEP for the Eastern Region and vice-president of the European Forum on Renewable Energy Sources (EUFORES), as well have having served as the vice-chair of the European Parliament's Energy and Research Committee. She replaces Professor John Chesshire, who after four years as Chair, is concentrating on his work advising the Government on energy issues.

Mrs McNally said "I am delighted to be appointed as Chairman of the National Energy Foundation. In my previous role as an MEP, I was able to influence the development of policies and funding programmes designed to raise awareness of the need for sustainable energy across the European Union. I now expect to be able to assist in implementing more projects in energy efficiency and renewables through the Foundation, as one of the UK's largest and most innovative charities working for sustainable energy."

She added "I'm especially pleased to be following such distinguished figures as Mary Archer and Prof. John Cheshire in chairing the Foundation. I share their priorities of increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy. John has worked tirelessly in raising the profile of energy efficiency with Government, and will continue to do so in his role as advisor to various committees. In contrast Mary brought a vast academic knowledge of sustainable energy systems to the Foundation, coupled with a great skill in getting the message heard by the wider public. I hope to be able to carry forward these approaches and to develop further recognition of the importance of sustainable energy."
